("Art Education." The School of Art and Design. N.p., n.d. Web. 10 Nov. 2015. <http://www.art.illinois.edu/content/undergraduate/programs/art-education/>.)

The Instructor of this week of class is Professor Jennifer O’Connor, and she talk to us about the issue in art and art education.

1. Hardships an artist will encounter: She used to work in school and non-profit art organization which sometimes really struggles about the issue of funding and even sometimes do not have salary to pay her and ask her to put in less hours of work.

2. Programming is an important thing in each of the organizations and institutions: (Some of the programming are shared below)

Classes: Visual Art, Dance, Music, Theater

Outreacg: Public and private schools, libraries

Gallery: Local, Contemporary, Outsider, Students

Performance: Plays, Musicals, Mucisians, Films

Events: Auction, Local Charity Events, Political

("Tour Dates | 10,000 Maniacs |." 10000 Maniacs RSS. N.p., n.d. Web. 10 Nov. 2015. <http://maniacs.com/tour-dates/>. )

3. The art center: A place which Jennifer worked in and it is hard to get fund because it is a non-profit organization.

4. Best v.s. Worst of jobs:

Highs:

create classes

teaching classes

work with schools

bring art to the neighborhood

meeting artists

work with artists

autonomy

Lows:

finances

working with directors who do not know art

or who do not want to program

work with artists who were temperamental

5. Overall, the impression the lecture gives me about the area of art education is pretty hard.

People put in hard works and can not be treated well and they will face evil persons everyday.

I would not choose art education as my major because it seems hopeless...
