The lecture today is given by Rachele Riley who is the professor of graphic design at UIUC.

("Rachele Riley." Rachele Riley. N.p., n.d. Web. 15 Oct. 2015. <http://www.racheleriley.com/2015/09/16/studies-in-material-thinking-special-issue-visual-textual/>. )

1, The evolution of silence:

The evolution of silence is something relate to the observation and the researching of a certain region of United States. And the Rachele is involved in the project and recorded the notes and findings in a way of multimedia display.

2, Multi-media display:

Why I call that multi-media display? Once I go to the website, there are pictures, discriptions, sounds and even short videos work together to give a impressive feeling of the researches.

("Rachele Riley." Rachele Riley. N.p., n.d. Web. 15 Oct. 2015. <http://www.racheleriley.com/2014/08/12/the-evolution-of-silence-version-1-at-siggraph-2014/>.)

3, Version 1:

Version one of the evolution of silence was on display in one of the exhibition in Vancouver, Canada.

4, Rachele's work involves multimedia, traveling, data-recording and researching. After her presentation, I almost forget the topic I am listening to which is graphic design. The concept of graphic design is ambiguous and obscure.

5, Graphic design:

My stereotype thinking of graphic design is the magazine cover, illustration on the news or album covers. This lecture give me different ideas; However, to be honest, it damages my interest in graphic design a little bit because I think my stereotyped thinking is more interesting to me.
