Trouble in Utopia Ep. 04 Mechanical Paradise by Robert Hughes:

1. Raw Materials: The process of entering utopia was reflected in the field of architecture, and the reform took place in the raw material of building. Materials of Mordneity which were only used in the field of engineering and industrialization started to be used after the industrial revalution: metal, concrete enforced with steel rods and mostly important raw material - SHEET GLASS.

2. GLASS - The opposite of the bricks and stones, convey lightness and transparency. Hanging on the steel the expert architect is a German Ludwig Mies van der Rohe . Straight lines, clear thought and extremely refined details dominate the major concept of the urban architect

3. Ludwig Mies van der Rohe: German American architect. Many of Meis projects tend to look authoritarious such as federal center in Chicago and he is a perfectionist. After research, I found out that he is the called the pinoor of the modern architecture and was appointed the head of the architecture school of Chicago Armour Institute of Technology which is now Illinois Institute of Technology.

4. Le Corbusier: Full name Charles-Édouard Jeanneret-Gris. Switzerland French architect and urban planner, also a pioneer of the mordern architecture. Saving green space and area of the well-being of the community, Corbusier rebuilt the city (known as the improvement of Paris) by assasinated the old things and built tower blocks. Laterly got the chance to plan the city Chandigah (India) where is nearly blank and in which there was no competition against him; however failed socially because nobody lives there.

5. Bauhaus: Founded by Walter Gropius. An important and famous art school in Germany that teach fine art, craft, design, and architecture and so on. Literally means "house of construction" or "school of building". After research, I found that the program was created in 1919 and forced to be closed in 1933, and it influenced the field of modern design. (earliest school of modern design in the world)

6. Peter Behrens: The start of the industrial design.
